A hard to break Juventus closed in on a second Champions League final in three seasons as Gonzalo Higuain struck twice to beat the free scoring and dangerous youthful side Monaco in the semi-final first leg.
The French hosts started brightly, with Kylian Mbappe heading at Gianluigi Buffon before forcing another low save.
The South American duo in Higuain and Alves combined so well to kill off the game. Alves 33 known right-back was assigned to play on the right of midfield, he showed clear energy to gallop forward and provided an opportunistic back heel to lay on the opener in the 29 minute for Higuain.
Radamel Falcao went close for Monaco after the break before Alves’ measured cross saw Higuain put Juve in control.
At the end of 90 minutes, Juventus proved so heavy for Monaco and as it stands, Monaco has a huge mountain to climb to reach Champions League final.
