A new low for Manchester United as Mourinho’s side record their lowest EVER amount of possession in Premier League history

Manchester United broke an unwanted Premier League record when they laboured to a goalless stalemate in the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night.

The draw, which keeps Jose Mourinho’s side in the hunt for a top four finish, saw United enjoy just 30.79 per cent of the ball in a dogged, defensive display.

It is the lowest possession figure the club have record in a Premier League game since the data was first collected during the 2003-04 season.

United were left hanging on for a draw against neighbours Manchester City after the second half dismissal of Marouane Fellaini for a headbutt on Sergio Aguero.

It leaves the Red Devils handily placed in the fight for Champions League football next season ahead of their Europa League semi final first leg away in Celta Vigo next Thursday.

United are now just two points behind third-placed Liverpool in the table with a game in hand.
