Erdogan accuses Merkel of ‘SUPPORTING TERRORISTS’ in attack against protest policing
TURKEY’S President Erdogan has accused Angela Merkel of attacking his people the same way the Dutch used police attack dogs to disperse protesters in Rotterdam.
President Erdogan and Angela Merkel are at diplomatic war over his comments
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Merkel was “no different from the Netherlands”, and urged Turks to not vote for “the government and the racists” in upcoming European elections. The comments come after row erupted over the weekend when the Netherlands prevented Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu from landing ahead of a state visit.
Mr Cavusoglu was originally scheduled to speak at a rally in support of a Yes vote in Turkey’s upcoming referendum, which would give Mr Erdogan greatly increased powers.Officials also blocked Family Minister Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya from holding a rally in Rotterdam, amid concerns it could result in violence.
