The first gold refinery in Uganda,  has been commissioned in Accra, with a call on the workers to work hard in achieving their goal while meeting maximum operational and international standards.

The president of Uganda H.E Yoweri K. Museveni,  who made the call, also charged the workers to exhibit trust and competency in their line of duty. He indicated that even though Uganda produced gold, diamond, Bauxite and manganese, it was only Phosphate and calcium that were processed in the country.

Gold mining companies exported the gold they produced to other countries in its raw form, noting that if all the minerals produced in the country were refined, there would have been an added value before exportation and more jobs would have been created for a better Uganda.
